The Leaders of Momentum Capital Partners
One of the most unique elements of working with Momentum Capital Partners is the opportunity a seller has to get to know the people who will be leading their company. They will have a chance to interview those who will serve their employees and customers, and to understand their core values. Shawn and Erick founded Momentum Capital Partners as a way to fulfill their dreams of running an amazing business together. They value integrity, honesty, and treating all people with dignity and respect. Their goal is to help your business grow and expand over many years.

The late Clayton Christensen wrote, “Management is the most noble of professions if it’s practiced well. No other occupation offers as many ways to help others learn and grow, take responsibility and be recognized for achievement, and contribute to the success of a team.” I believe in and am motivated by that statement.
I grew up in a blue-collar family where I learned the value of hard work, financial responsibility, and determination. My parents set my sights on gaining a higher-education (something that neither of them had received) and imbued me with the belief that I could achieve anything I put my mind to.
I pursued an undergraduate degree in business and served a two-year service mission for my church during my college years. This experience galvanized two important truths: 1. you can overcome seemingly insurmountable odds with faith and determination and 2. happiness in life comes from improving the lives of people around you.
After graduating with a degree in finance and working the first few years of my career, I returned to school and received an MBA degree. I’ve since held leadership positions in organizations both large and small, working in the leadership development program at General Electric, leading data analytics at a technology firm, and serving as the CEO of a small business.
I determined that being a business owner would give me the greatest opportunity to achieve my goals by serving employees and customers, contributing to the success of a team, and stretching myself to new heights. I partnered with my long-time friend Erick Hollenbaugh, raised a fund from a group of seasoned investors, and founded Momentum Capital Partners to do just that. I’m excited to see where the future takes us.
I'm a husband, father, man of faith, and many other less important things.

I have an extensive background in sales, operations, and marketing. The early part of my career was spent in the exploding Salt Lake tech scene at two of the billion-dollar companies there. These companies were in their high-growth stages. I was directly responsible to COOs, CMOs, SVPs of Sales, and worked frequently with the CEO, Chief of Staff, and Finance teams.

With them, I helped scale internal operations, created transparency around the most important initiatives, and implemented systems to make that make the entire org more impactful. I often led special projects for the executive team and was a sounding board for initiatives they were considering. I'm grateful to have worked so closely with so many high-caliber leaders.

Though early in my career, I was asked to build new teams at two of these companies. I love building, managing, and enabling teams. As a leader, I'm most passionate about having a meaningful, positive impact on the lives of employees and customers. I love to invest in each team member's development. My strongest sales/product philosophy is that amazing customer experience is a huge strategic advantage.

Our goal is to take a business with a great service, product, and customer base, and to help that business scale in a healthy way. We partner with the current owners who are vested in the success of their business. We partner with current employees who are the heart of the company. We partner with customers to help them improve and to have a great experience with us. Shawn and I will buy only one business, and we will be dedicated to that business full-time for many years.
